Course Information:
This online course is designed to give students the knowledge needed to perform basic fusion repairs on damaged thermoplastics using the nitrogen plastic welder. This is a great course for technicians or automotive students.
The Nitrogen Plastic Welding 1 course teaches the student how to align, fixture, and v-groove cracks and tears. This course emphasizes the proper nitrogen fusion welding technique, which can be applied to any thermoplastic part. This course shows students how to repair two common types of damage on a bumper cover. This course also explains how to grind and sand a weld to prepare for the refinishing process.
This online course provides the foundational knowledge needed to properly perform nitrogen fusion welds. Combining this knowledge with hands-on experience will allow students to profit from plastic repair opportunities.
Time Requirements:
This course will take approximately 1 hour to complete. It is broken up into several bite-sized lessons, so you can complete it on your schedule.
Completion Requirements:
Each lesson must be completed in order. Each slide in a lesson must be viewed for the lesson to count as “completed.” The first two quizzes do not require a passing score, but the student must pass the final quiz with a score of 70% or better to complete the course.
Prerequisites:
No prior training or body shop experience is necessary, although familiarity with grinding and sanding tools is a plus.
